Australian electricity in Singapore!

Mr. Glass

I found this today. A proposed energy infrastructure project consisting of building a 4000km long undersea power line from Australia to Singapore.

Setting aside the mad magnitude of this project, how can a people be okay with such dependence? A few decades down the road, should Australia reconsider its choice of feeding electricity into the ASEAN region, Singapore et al may end up being stuck in a tricky situation.

I don’t know much about what the people of Singapore are like; perhaps dependence like this is okay in the eyes of Singaporeans as they have always had to depend on other nations around them – Singapore is a city-state, after all.
